The Beginning
Once a long, long time ago there was a Kingdom of the Moon. It was ruled by a
beloved and just Queen that the other planet kingdoms looked up to. She
asked each of them to send a prince or princess to be guardians of the Solar
System and they gladly did. Thus was the beginning, the first of the senshi
of love and justice, the defenders of the Solar System and someday the
saviors of the universe. These is their stories.
The Meeting of Graceful Neptune and Magnificent Uranus
The attack
Ryu heard the noise outside her room on the balcony. She got up and fixed her
bed to look like she was still in it. Then she grabbed her rapier and ducked
behind a large chair she used for reading. She figured it was Tabo who was
always doing things to surprise her like this. He would just say it was to
keep her on her toes so that Master Kyruka would not think she was getting
slow. The doors opened silently and a creature she had never seen before
rushed at her bed and raised its weapon to strike. She came up to it as
silently as she could but she must have made some noise for it turned and
swung. Her sword pushed the weapon aside and she lunged before it could
recover. Somehow it twisted away and she was looking at it face to face. A
cry sounded in the courtyard below and she realized there were more. It must
have realized it would be found quickly and it wanted to complete its mission
to kill her before then. It growled something, as it leapt at her and she
managed to toss herself out of its path, scoring a cut it its side as it
passed her. A yell it the hallway caused it to turn and leap again. She
could see no way to avoid it this time and it knew it for the creature roared
a victorious cry. She didn't try. Instead she grabbed her sheath and used
that to knock the creature's weapon aside as she let it impale itself on her
sword. It died in mere seconds, her sword unerringly finding its heart. When
the door burst open, she hear Tabo's voice calling for her.
"Here I am. Get this thing off of me." She commanded. The creature was heavy
and she could barely even move it a little. They lifted it off her and she
tool in a deep breath. "Foul thing." She said and wiped her rapier on a rag
it had been using for clothing. "So did you get the other one?"
Her friend smiled. "Should have known you would be all right. Yes, we did.
Ouch!" He rubbed the side of his head from were the sword master had hit it.
"You should addressed Her Highness with more respect, young Tabo Chikai. Yes,
Your Highness, we have already taken care of the other creature before it had
reached the King." Master Kyruka informed her.
She nodded. "I see. Let my father know I will be with him as soon as I get
properly dressed." Even as she spoke the servants had arrived and was now
removing the body. "Do you know what this was?"
Master Kyruka nodded. "They are from the Dark Galaxy. I will tell His
Highness you will join him soonest."
She closed the door after them and secured it the best she could. It would be
fixed it the morning. She went to her closet and got out her clothes,
choosing with care for the times that seem upon them now. She did not have to
be told that the Dark Galaxy's appearance meant another war to be fought.
Tabo was waiting outside the door when she left her room. He fell in step
behind her as they went to see her father.
She arrived at her father's study and went in. The room had Master Kyruka and
Momoku Osen, commander of the guard, and they were bent over the
communication device from the Moon Kingdom. She was certain her father was
telling of the attacks on their lives. She silently joined them. About that
moment her father closed down the device and looking grave, turned to
everyone. He nodded.
"The Moon Queen has informed me that there were attacks on all the planet's
ruling families. Her advisers believe that there will not be another for a
while and that will allow us to fortify for future attacks." He paused and
looked at her. "She has asked for a member of the ruling family of each
planet to attend her and become the planetary guardian as well as a member of
her court. Ryu, you will have to go and be Uranus for us." She felt his eyes
boring in her as he gave her this mission. Not that he had a choice as she
was his only child and the only other member of his family. She nodded her
agreement. He turned then to Master Kyruka. "I will also be sending Tabo
Chikai there as well." Master Kyruka nodded in his turn. "They will be
leaving at daybreak so have everything arranged for them." He turned back to
her and Tabo, who was standing behind her. "Pack what you wish and then get
some sleep. We will wake you to eat before you leave." Ryu thought of
protesting but instead nodded again and walked out of the study, Tabo
following her. They said nothing until they were at her door.
"So I am going to go with you there." Tabo said. He looked to her like he was
having mixed feeling about it.
"Yes. He wants us both there to protect the Moon Queen and Princess. We are a
good choice for such things; me as the only one to be the Senshi Uranus and
you as the best young fighter that Master Kyruka has taught." She said it in
a deaden voice. Her feelings did not matter in this case.
"Humph! Other than you, of course." He said automatically. "I can't help but
feel though that they are somewhat relieved that we are leaving. Or did you
get that impression?"
She did not speak at first. Sure it had looked to her that way as well.
Uranus was one of the outer planets and that made it one of the first one to
be attacked. It would also make it one of the first to fall, should the enemy
have enough fight to get to the Moon. She knew despite her father's taciturn
ways that he loved her. "Well, it does not matter what it seemed like. We
have his orders and we will carry them out." She wanted to sigh but commanded
instead, "Now go pack and get some sleep." She left him in the hall.
She looked around her room and then finally sighed. She did not want to go
and leave her father at a time like this but they swore oaths to the Moon
Kingdom and she would never disgrace her planet and family. She walked around
the room, trying to decide on what she should take and what would be left
behind. There was not a lot she would take, she decided as she walked around
again. This time she picked up what she would take and put it on her bed.
The
knife her father first gave her, a shirt her mother had made before her
death, a picture Tabo secretly had painted and presented on her last birthday
of her and her father studying a book on strategy in his study, these would
go. That weird blade of Momoku would stay. It bothered her in a way she could
never express and she only wanted the stuff she cared for. The bow and arrows
that the previous commander of the guard had given her would not go either
although she made that decision reluctantly. It would serve not real purpose
there. She took some of the books her father had given her and her equipment
that Master Kyruka had helped her put together. Finally she chose her
clothing with care, clothes for dress occasions, clothes for everyday wear,
clothes for her workouts and clothes for times of secretary. By the time the
servants arrived to take her stuff she had everything all set. They took
everything and left. She thought she might have problems sleeping but Master
Kyruka had taught her well and she fell into a dreamless sleep.
The servant awakened her just an hour before daybreak and instructed her of
what to do. She dressed and again made her way to her father's study, the
servant following behind. The servant stayed outside the door as she entered.
Her father was standing in front of the fireplace and she saw that he was
tired. In fact, she could see his age upon him. She went over to him and gave
him a rare hug that she would never had done if they had not been alone. She
saw his tiredness still clinging to him but he did not seem so old as he
hugged her back.
"Ryu." He said, his voice full of love that he so rarely showed except when
they were alone. Just her name and she wanted to weep from the emotions that
threatened to overwhelm her. He pushed her out to arms-length to look at her.
"Ryu, you are all a father could want and I am proud of you." He wiped the
tear away she could not hold back. "And I am sure your mother would have been
as well. I have no fear that you will bring nothing but honor to the House of
Uranus. Go and remember, you are in my heart."
She closed her eyes a moment and with all the strength her family was known
for, pulled him into the fiercest hug. "Father." She said before letting him
go. They both knew it would be the last one. She then stepped back and bowed.
She straightened and looked at him once more before she turned and left the
room.
Tabo was already there when she arrived at the dining hall and she noted he
had eaten quite a bit. Master Kyruka was also there. He would escort them to
the teleportation room. She knew that their stuff was already being sent
ahead. Tabo glanced up at her but kept on eating.
"You are certainly eating enough." She commented as she reached for food to
fill her own plate.
He winked and replied, "Ah but it maybe a long time before I have good
Uranusian food again." He was about to bite into another pastry when he
remembered to add, "Your Highness."
She chuckled. "Yes, that is true but remember, we have to leave them some
food too."
She fell silent and began to eat her own breakfast. She ignored his own
pointed stares at her amounts as he was right about the food. She ate all she
could stand and then sat back to finish her tea. She then got up and with
Master Kyruka ahead of her and Tabo behind, made her way to the teleportation
room. Master Kyruka bowed to her and she bowed back in thanks for all his
teachings. She then turned and entered the room. A quick breath and she was
no longer on Uranus but on the Moon.
